Server Update: Goodbye, CS:Promod

Greetings! Hope everyone is doing well.

I have taken a harsh decision regarding the CSPromod servers we are hosting for quite a long time already. Despite the fact our community love Counter-Strike regardless of the version, it has been noticed that CSPromod itself wasn’t really appreciated nor played for 2 continuous years. Yes, for that long. And far away is the hype of CS:Legacy (from the initial creators of CS:Promod) due to difficult decisions regarding VALVe’s IP.

We could talk about all the issues the mod has, but let’s face it : CSPromod is hard to install and to play on many systems, despite the fact we have an installation guide on our WiQi allowing everyone to play it whether they own CS:Source or not.

As a result, I will stop the CS:Promod servers the 23rd of March, 2026, allowing players to still enjoy some time playing this before shutting them down. Please see that screenshot taken a few minutes before pushing this post.

Anyway, we have done some modifications on our servers! Here is the changelog :

Changelog

CS:Promod

  • Planified a shutdown of both servers the 23rd of March, 2026.

CS:Source (v34)

  • FFA Changes:
    • Many tweaks have been set regarding team switch limits.
    • Added the following maps to the maplist:
      • de_cpl_mill
  • Automix Changes:
    • Reworked several plugins as well as its behaviour used by the server.
    • Removed ZBlock.
    • Added the following maps to the maplist:
      • de_aztec
      • de_prodigy
      • de_cpl_mill
    • Fixed de_dustnot appearing on the maplist.

CS:GO (Legacy)

  • Attempted some fixes on the Coop & Danger Zone servers. (event soon? :eyes:)

Half-Life: Adrenaline Gamer

  • Reverted the pure system to sounds ONLY.
  • Added 3 new maps at the end of the voting maplist :
    • apohldm12
    • binge
    • vx800

Quake 3 (OSP)

  • Added more CPMA maps to the maplist.

I have realized that binge has a fatal flaw after I suggested it. Well, two fatal flaws. Duh. (no one is going to play it seriously enough to abuse these anyway)

I’ve loaded cpma3 up locally to see what it is (damn this absolutely immemorable map naming convention), wondered what this gigantic map is doing on a 1v1 server…noclipped and realized it’s four maps in one. Fun. Also huh, you’ve left cpm5 in after all. But where are cpm2, 10, 19, 22 (just for lulz), 24, 25, 27, perhaps also 15 and 18, and, of course, my favorite 17 and 23?!

Maps are there, but not declared on the vote maplist. I’ll add them ASAP.

Unfortunately, it seems that cs 1.6 moved to source has no future. players still prefer goldsrc with nosteam. I also have a cspromod server but only 4 people have joined. I know your servers because they and mine are the only ones that appear on the internet list. and there is a problem here: As long as there is no demand there is no supply and vice versa.

To which I fully agree to everything you’re saying. Besides, it’s been very difficult to play CSPromod regardless of the system (and it’s actually worse on Linux/Steam Deck as Source 2007 does not work natively at all), even for the curiosity of it.

I wish you the very best for your CS:Promod servers though !
