Server Update: Welcome Back, Global Offensive!

Greetings ! I hope you are doing well.

Since Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is trending again thanks to VALVe’s generosity, I’ve been looking on how it’s getting played by the community these past few weeks. The reason is simple : CSGO can be played with 2 ways :

  • Through the csgo_legacybranch of CS2,
  • Or directly through the Standalone that VALVe discretely released early March.

The issue, is that both games have conflicting IDs, meaning that servers made with one build won’t be compatible with the other, and vice-versa. Thankfully, the community is slowly agreeing to play on the standalone build exclusively, and server hosters have found a way to make both games compatible.

One bad news though : VALVe didn’t want to lower CS2’s popularity by publicly bringing back CSGO, and decided to hide it on their store, meaning you have to know the direct link in order to add it to your account. If you don’t know how to get it, we have a guide on how to install it on our WiQi.

Another bad news linked to that standalone : VALVe did the absolute minimum, as the inventory issue is still around. There is a way to bring it back (csgo_gcbeing the one in mind), but it involves modifying the binaries. Unless we are 1000% sure it won’t trigger a VAC-Ban on community servers, I’d recommand you not attempting to install it yet.

Anyway, here is our changelog.

Changelog

Oh, and unrelated, but I hope you have not been spoiled on the Mario Galaxy movie… WTH were they thinking.

I’ve never asked for osp2 though

Shouldn’t be a requirement even if it’s a tremendous upgrade over OSP’s original client vqm though. Remove it on your client, but it shouldn’t download it in the first place.

Now it doesn’t.

Wasn’t it a client only mod also? My biggest grip with it currently is that it has totally broken HUD layouts for 640x480, both super and classic. Beyond this new HUD and some extra customization options, I don’t even know what it’d be worth using for.

Yup, it is, but apparently I accidentally included it in the folder’s pk3 as an optional package without declaring it as such. But yeah, it can cause problem is using older resolutions.
